Tax Litigation
Our lawyers are skilled at developing effective and legitimate tax structures for our clients. However, not all of tax law is concerned with forward planning.
Occasionally a dispute will arise between a taxpayer and the Canada Revenue Agency, or the Ministry of Provincial Revenue (B.C.). On those occasions, we are able to provide our clients with the vigorous representation needed to help resolve the dispute, whether by negotiation or by litigation.
Our lawyers also have extensive experience in dealing with federal and provincial tax collection authorities and have appeared in courts of all levels including the Supreme Court of Canada on behalf of our clients. We have been involved in the successful litigation of all manner of tax disputes, including reassessments based on the general anti-avoidance rule (GAAR) under the Income Tax Act.
